Traditions are important, and the month of November is full of them. On the Tuesday following the first Monday of the month our nation comes together to celebrate democracy by exercising our right to vote in free and fair elections. On the eleventh day of the month we join together in showing appreciation to the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. On the fourth Thursday of November we take an opportunity to reflect on all that we have to be grateful for as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
Tomorrow I look forward to a tradition that families and friends in Southeastern Massachusetts have been taking part in for just shy of four hundred years - giving thanks for the blessings of a year gone by with family and friends.
When it’s my turn at the table to give thanks tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be mentioning you. Without your support I would not be where I am today. I am incredibly appreciative of your help and not a day goes by that I am not thankful for the voters of this district giving me the honor of representing them in the United States Congress.
I hope that you’ll have the opportunity to sit down with friends and family tomorrow to reflect on what you are grateful for, enjoy some turkey, and watch a football game or two. For our neighbors who don’t have the luxury of Thanksgiving Dinner in the comfort of their own homes, I hope you will consider a donation to your local food pantry to help make the holidays whole for families in need.
Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving from my table to yours,
